Joe Jonas has been issued some advice about potentially "controlling the narrative" of his divorce from Sophie Turner through new music, with a PR expert sharing her thoughts.

It was announced recently that the singer, 34, and actor Sophie, 27, had decided to get end their marriage. The former couple issued a joint statement on social media earlier this month amid speculation that they'd split up.

In the wake of their separation, it's possible that Joe could release music about the end of the relationship, following in the footsteps of fellow singers like Adele. She referenced her divorce on her album 30, which was released in 2021.

A host of artists, notably including Joe's ex Taylor Swift, have released songs about break-ups that have topped the charts. Joe - who's in the Jonas Brothers - has experience as a songwriter too and could release a new one of his own.

He's credited as a songwriter on tracks released by the band such as Waffle House, What a Man Gotta Do and the chart-topping Sucker. Joe's understood to have also written songs for his solo album Fastlife, which was released in 2011.

The Mirror recently spoke to PR expert Mayah Riaz about the possiblity of Joe releasing a 'heartbreak' song inspired by his split from Sophie. We asked whether this could be a way for him to get his account of the separation across.

Sharing her thoughts on the prospect, Mayah told us: "We don't know if Joe feels the need to get his side of the story across. However, it is not uncommon for musicians to channel personal experiences into their creative work."

"If he does feel the need to get his story across then he may choose to release a 'heartbreak' song as a way to express his emotions and of course to share his side of the story," she further commented about the possibility recently.

Mayah continued by saying: "Doing this can be a strategic and effective method for him to communicate his feelings without appearing overly confrontational or engaging in a potentially damaging 'tell-all' type interview - which may be perceived as more aggressive or sensationalised.

"Releasing music that reflects personal experiences allows Joe to connect with fans on a deeper level, as many people can relate to the emotional journey of heartbreak. It would be a way for him to express his vulnerability, showcase his growth as an artist, and a valuable opportunity to engage his existing fan base while potentially attracting new fans."

The publicist also commented about possible new music: "By releasing a 'heartbreak' song, it allows Joe to control the narrative surrounding his divorce, offering his perspective in a way that is artistic and open to interpretation."

Mayah also had some advice for Joe, should he decide to release anything inspired by the break-up. Sharing it, she said: "As a publicist, I would advise him to ensure that the messaging around it strikes a delicate balance."

"The focus should be to emphasise the personal growth, resilience, and maturity that can arise from a heartbreak," she said. The celebrity manager added: "By framing the song(s) as a means of self-expression and healing, Joe can position himself as relatable and empathetic, allowing his fans to connect with him on an emotional level."

She further warned over the possibility whilst discussing the former couple: "As the divorce includes another person, he will need to approach it with sensitivity, respect Sophie's privacy and be mindful of potential legal boundaries."
