MAFS UK's first trans star 'takes step back' after vile transphobic comments
Married At First Sight UK’s first transgender star has said she is “taking a step back” after receiving vile transphobic comments.
Ella Morgan thanked fans for their support since she appeared on the E4 show, which returned to TV screens earlier this week, but the 29-year-old hit out at trolls who had targeted her family.
Taking to her Instagram stories to address some of the abuse she had received, Ella – who transitioned a few years ago - said: “I don’t always read the comments anymore because of the transphobia. I can take it, I’m resilient to it. I’ve heard it enough times by now. But it’s not fair on my family, who didn’t ask for all of this but they still want to support me.
“I know I’ve been a bit absent today. I’ve just found it a little bit hard and I’m going to be real with you guys, so I’ve just taken a step back. But I just want to say thank you because all your messages have got me through everything.”
Viewers were left in tears when Ella, who feared she would never get the chance to be a bride, married pansexual groom Nathanial in episode two of the show and there seemed to be an instant connection between them.

Ella says her family has received online abuse since she appeared as MAFS UK's first trans bride (Instagram)But in later scenes filmed when they went on honeymoon to Mexico, things appeared to fall apart with Nathanial accusing his new wife of putting on a show for the cameras and being ‘fake’. They also rowed after it emerged Ella told Nathanial she had previously danced as a stripper, which she feared could have changed his opinion of her.
Reports have since claimed Ella cheated on Nathaniel with another groom, who has yet to make an appearance in the series. ”There's no denying that Ella and Nathanial were instantly attracted to each other the day of their wedding. But Ella's natural type is a straight man with masculine energy so one of the other grooms ticked more of her boxes. She didn't want to hurt Nathanial or go against the process because being part of the show means so much to her,” a source told MailOnline.
Appearing to address some of the reports, Ella told fans she “wasn’t perfect” but asked them to stick with her as “it was only episode three” and there is much more to still be revealed in the show.

I’m not perfect, I never claimed to be perfect, but stick with me. It does get easier.”
Ella, who lives with her Nanny Val in Weston-Super-Mare and is her carer, then turned the camera to ‘the Queen’, who defended her granddaughter telling fans: “What she’s like on screen she’s like in real life, no different.”
Revealing one of the more bizarre comments she had received, Ella moved her hand over her eyeball to prove her eyes really were blue as she said she keeps getting asked where she got her coloured contact lenses from.
She ended the video by saying: “But I do agree, I need to get my lips resolved because they looked terrible on TV! But yeah I’m going to just keep on smiling.” She also said she had been overwhelmed by kind messages from fans who had taken the time to DM her and planned to respond to everyone individually when she could.
