Police praised a young child after its naivety and spontaneity led to the arrest of a woman with multiple outstanding warrants, including drug-related ones.

Officers in Williamsburg, Kentucky attempted to locate a 45-year-old woman with multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest.

They searched for Tina Hicks at a house, but none of her adult family members revealed whether or not Hicks was inside the house.

However, a young child, who was present at the scene, stood up and said: "It is good to be honest… we shouldn’t lie, she is inside the room next to the bathroom!"

After the kid's candid stance, police found and arrested Hicks, who was hiding in the location described by the child.

Following her arrest, Whitley County Sheriff Department posted a picture of the woman sitting in the police department on Facebook.

Deputy Brentley Patrick praised the toddler for his "bravery and integrity", stating that the child's actions were a "valuable service to the community", as with the help of the young child, the officers were able to take Hicks into custody.

Hicks, age 45 of Williamsburg, was served with two outstanding Whitley Circuit Indictment Warrants charging her with Possession of Meth and Drug Paraphernalia.

In addition to these charges, Hicks was also served with four other outstanding district court warrants.

It is unclear how Hicks was involved with the child or if the child was related to her.

Police said that the child involved was visiting family at the property, and added that "he was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused".

They added: "He was just at the wrong place wrong time. If deputies thought he was a potential victim of repercussions, it would have been dealt with."

The incident garnered attention from social media users who have praised the child's behaviour, while many also commended the officers for their dedication to serving and protecting the community.

It is unclear why the adult family members wouldn't reveal the woman's whereabouts and whether they were trying to protect Hicks from legal consequences.
