When it comes to relationships, no couple is ever completely perfect and there likely isn't any pair out there who can say they've never had any kind of argument or disagreement - and that appears to include members of the Royal Family, like the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married since 2011 and according to a royal expert they have "blistering rows" and both "give as good as they get". Writing in his 2022 book, William at 40: The Making of a Modern Monarch, Robert Jobson claimed that the pair have a very strong partnership and are clearly very in love, but have different approaches when it comes to disagreements.

Jobson wrote that William "is a bit of a shouter" during rows, while Kate is more of a calming presence. A royal aide reportedly told the author: "He [William] can be a bit of a shouter when he loses it. It's fair to say the Duke and Duchess give as good as they get if their disagreement results in raised voices. But they know each other so well, it usually blows over quickly – and she is, on the whole, a major calming influence on him."

The book also details the positive influence Kate has had on William, largely down to her middle-class upbringing, which Jobson claims has helped to keep William grounded. He continued to say: "They've got a solid relationship and she gives him confidence. There is no jealousy, no friction – they are happy for each other's successes."

And disagreements aren't the only relationship issue the pair have dealt with, as they've also reportedly experienced the awkwardness that can occur in the early stages of dating. While it's been years since their first encounter, they still remember how embarrassing it was when they first met one another - and when they went on their first official date.

Kate has previously recalled how the first time she ever met William she went 'bright red', saying: "I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy." Similarly William has told how he knew there was something 'special' about Kate from the early days. Speaking years after they met, he claimed: "When I first met Kate, I knew there was something very special about her. I knew there was possibly something that I wanted to explore there."

As such he tried to impress his future wife by cooking 'fancy' dinners in their shared house. "I was trying to cook these amazing fancy dinners," he told Press Association. "[But] what would happen was I would burn something, something would overspill, something would catch on fire. She would be sitting in the background trying to help and basically taking control of the whole situation."

And when they finally went on their first date Kate reportedly tried to play a little joke on the prince, but it didn't end well. According to Heart Radio, Kate attempted to curtsey to William as a joke, but she ended up falling over and making William spill a drink all over himself. Awkward!
