Manchester United endured another miserable result on Wednesday night - as Bayern Munich won 4-3 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern established a two-goal lead at half-time thanks to Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry before Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal for United. Harry Kane then made it 3-1 from the penalty spot before from Mathys Tel's strike and Casemiro's late brace.

United have now lost three consecutive games to Tottenham, Brighton and Bayern. Their latest defeat in the Champions League has placed more pressure on Erik ten Hag's shoulders, with the Dutchman hoping a victory will come sooner rather than later.

Here is the best of the reaction from Wednesday night's game...

Onana apologises

Andre Onana has apologised for falling to save Bayern's opening goal. The goalkeeper, who joined United from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window, allowed Sane's strike to go underneath him before conceding three more goals.

Onana said: "It's difficult. We started very good. After my mistake we lost control of the game. It's a difficult situation for us, for me. The team were one down because of that mistake. I have to learn from it and be strong. I'm happy with the comeback of the team.

"I have a lot to prove. My start in Manchester hasn't been so good, not how I want. This was one of my worst games. We have big ambition. It's a tough time. We have to be together and work hard."

TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand said: "This is a nightmare scenario for Onana. He is confident as you like with his feet, we were sitting there saying wow with some of his passes, but as a goalkeeper you are paid to come in there and make saves.

"This is a great bit of skill from Sane to set it up as well, but he does not hit it with any purpose - it’s not wide, it’s not in the corners and Onana and his reaction afterwards, he should save this. It is meat and drink for him and he should be picking this up and looking for his next pass - it’s a bad mistake and one that he needs to recover from."

Ten Hag's pre-match blunder

Ten Hag described Alphonso Davies as "not a great defender" before Wednesday night's game - only for the Bayern star to produce a crucial interception in the fifth minute. The Canadian denied Facundo Pellistri in the box to keep the score at 0-0.

Ferdinand said: "These are the moments. You come to big stadiums like these and it is hard work to get these opportunities, and when they come you have to punish them. But this is a game-changing tackle here, fantastic timing, he just about gets it right."

Takeover update

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are still interested in buying United. The Glazers, who are deeply unpopular at Old Trafford, put the club up for sale 10 months ago but are yet to name a preferred bidder.

Fans are concerned the Glazers will take United off the market, but Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim aren't giving up without a fight. It's believed the club's chief executive Richard Arnold recently told staff the process is ongoing and urged them to "hang tight".
