EastEnders dropped a huge clue about the Christmas victim tonight as the cufflinks changed hands once again.

We know that one male dies this Christmas in shock scenes on Sharon's wedding day. The man can be seen dressed in a suit and wearing a specific pair of cufflinks but we don't know who he is or why he has died or who has murdered him.

However, it looks like we could be coming closer to the truth tonight, as fans spotted a big clue about the cufflinks in tonight's episode as Phil Mitchell prepared to marry Kat Slater. There was a possibility the wedding might not go ahead after Phil cheated on Kat with Emma Harding, but he has managed to keep his secret for now and the wedding seems set to run as expected.

The cufflinks in question belong to Nish Panesar, but he lost them in a poker game to Rocky Cotton. Not wanting them, Rocky handed them over to Jack Branning, who has had possession of them until this evening when he handed them over.

Tonight, as Phil prepared for his wedding, Jack handed him the cufflinks as Jack told him: "Take care of these, they’re Nish’s so probably expensive." Phil then replied: "Cheers! Lost mine in a ruck I think." Police officer Jack was quick to reply: "I don’t need to know about that, do I?" as Sharon walked in and remarked how nice that the cufflinks were.

Whilst some fans are convinced this proves Phil Mitchell will die at Christmas, others are not so sure he will and are convinced it will be passed on in the next few days, weeks and months before the Christmas death airs.

"Wondering how many times the cufflinks will change hands before Xmas but it is entertaining when they appear #EastEnders," one wrote, whilst a second added: "The cufflinks are on the move. No way they’re staying with Phil til Christmas. #eastenders." A third penned: "No! Get those cufflinks off of him! THIS IS NOT HOW IT ENDS!!! #EastEnders."

Whoever ends up with the cufflinks by December 25 will end up dead, but who could it be?
