Mum's pain as 17-month-old tot killed in animal attack after wandering from home
A mum has been left in pain after her 17-month-old baby died following a suspected animal attack.
Da'Angelo Zacc Manning and another little kid aged four were reported missing after walking away from a home on Winkler Road in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, shortly after 10am on Monday. Around half an hour later, deputies from the sheriff's office found the older child wandering a half mile from the property.
The child was treated by the emergency services and was found to have suffered some minor scratches. Meanwhile, deputies, state troopers, canine officers, volunteer firemen, and private citizens continued looking for Da'Angelo, who was tragically found dead in an area north of Kendrick Springs Road - around half a mile from the home - at 12.05pm.

The baby's mum Angelica Marquez said she was 'hurt' and 'mad' after his death (Facebook)Sheriff Sam Dowies said the apparent cause of death appeared to have been the result of an animal attack, KSLA News 12 reported. He said: "Sheriff Dowies wanted to publicly thank the Louisiana State Police, David Wade Correctional Center, Claiborne Parish volunteer firemen, Pafford Ambulance Service and the other concerned citizens who all quickly responded to assist with this tragic event."
Currently, it is unclear what animal attacked the toddler and investigations are ongoing. Da'Angelo's mum Angelica Marquez, who nicknamed her little boy "Snoopy", said she was "so hurt and so mad" following his death.

In a post on social media, the heartbroken woman wrote: "I found out I was pregnant [with] you on my birthday, it was a big surprise for me. I was happy, so happy to have you, your brothers loved you so much still do you where my baby. You were always smiling, you will bring a smile out of people, you were amazing trust me you were my snoopy my best friend. I remember the day me and your daddy chose your name while you were in my belly.

I'm trying to keep calm for your brothers, I hate so much that you didn't meet your brother, that I didn't hold you one last time, kissed you and said I love you because I love you son, I'm so hurt and so mad. I just don't know how to get through this baby I'm so sorry."
A family member created a fundraiser to ensure the family can arrange a funeral for little Da'Angelo. Evelyn Ayala wrote on GoFundMe: "My family is going through a very difficult time at the moment. Da'Angelo Zacc Manning 'Snoopy', son of my cousin Angelica Marquez, had a fatal accident in which he lost his life. We are asking to help to cover his funeral expenses. At the moment she is not receiving calls, and we would appreciate it if you could understand the situation that has happened." So far, the family managed to raise $1,880 of a $10,000 target.
