Micah Richards has Lineker in stitches after admitting he got injured having sex
Micah Richards has revealed he lied about an injury that he picked up in embarrassing circumstances whilst having sex.
The former Manchester City defender made over 200 appearances in the Premier League after breaking through from the club’s academy. However, he had the final few years of his career hugely impacted by injuries.
He represented the likes of Fiorentina and Aston Villa before deciding to hang up his boots officially in 2019. Asked on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast what his most embarrassing injury was, Richards opened up on a bedroom-themed incident.
Replying to the question, he said: “I have but it’s quite sexual, not really for this podcast,” which triggered both Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker to launch into fits of laughter.
The Match of the Day host was keen to find out more after Richard’s admission. Lineker replied: “Mostly adults listening. You can’t leave it at that, what do you mean?”

Richards then opened up slightly more but was keen to keep some specifics close to his chest. The former defender added: “Basically, obviously, I can’t go into detail. Basically, I was yes, I was ‘having fun’ and as I was ‘having fun’, I slipped off the bed and stretched my leg and did my hamstring.
“So I’ve rolled over, but I was totally fine in training. So when I go back to training and the physio’s have asked me what have I done and I just said ‘I’ve just got some pain down my back, I felt it in the game but I didn’t really want to say anything'. They don’t know the truth until now.”
Lineker then joked to Shearer: "Alan, you can't match that!" And while the Newcastle legend's worst injury was somewhat more traditional, it was still pretty graphic.

"I came away from Highbury once with Tony Adams, six stitches in my eye, seven stitches in my lip. I walked into two of his elbows. I came off worse than he did that day," he explained.
Lineker, then asked about the most violent game he played in, said: "When I was 19, we played at Anfield and someone knocked the ball into me. My touch wasn’t brilliant, it went back towards midfield, had my back to goal.
"Souness was coming but I knew I was going to get the ball. So I thought ‘I’m just going to get there ahead of him’. I was some naive kid, put my foot out. He went straight over the top, right down my shin. I had to have about six stitches and I was carried off. I learnt a lesson that day to always protect yourself!"
