Prince William appeared to take a 'modern approach' to leadership by attempting to appear more 'accessible' during his recent New York trip in which he had some telling signs of his true intentions.

Judi James, a body language expert, told The Mirror that he has a natural advantage in leadership, allowing him to opt for more relaxed actions. She said: "William is probably the first royal heir to have the skill of natural leadership and power rituals thanks to his height, his build and his rather military bearing."

She added: "[This] will be a huge advantage to him as he will be able to take a more modern approach by toning down the usual regal power and superior status signals like space, distance and a more remote, ‘regal’ presence and be more accessible and, like here, bashful without compromising his charisma."

William's more reserved body language has helped communicate that he doesn't want "to be treated differently" or bring his status into the conversation. Since he avoids splaying his chest or legs, he's able to give that more modestly. Additionally, he communicated through a smile which made him look "youthful" and his eyes showed that he was "excited and happy to be there".

Judi believes that William was "in awe of the US and the people he [was] meeting" or at least that is how it appeared. That being said, his "core brand" is still that of a royal. His mother, though, left a mark on William who is able to avoid "looking distant or haughty".

She also noticed a very small detail. She explained: "There is a deeper confidence though in the way he keeps the clasp close to his own torso and picks out the camera with his eyes."

By avoiding the "alpha" and "dominating" style, William was able to appear much more humble during his Earthshot Prize visit. His presence at the awards is incredibly important considering he is the creator of the award. While the winners have not yet been announced, William announced the finalists.

Their website explains their purpose. It reads: "Our challenge to the world is based on five Earthshots – simple but ambitious and universal goals for 2030 developed in collaboration with leading environmental experts. They are Protect and Restore Nature; Clean our Air; Revive our Oceans; Build a Waste-Free World; and Fix our Climate."
