Emmerdale appeared to hint at David Metcalfe's exit storyline on Tuesday's episode as a new village romance was teased on the ITV soap.
On Monday, Victoria Sugden mistakenly told Jacob Gallagher, who has a nut allergy, that a slider at the tasting event was nut-free, leading to a severe allergic reaction. After Jacob's Auto Adrenaline Injector broke, panic ensued as Victoria frantically tried to search for another before Jacob managed to indicate there was one in his car.
After an agonising wait, Victoria was finally able to administrate the Auto Adrenaline Injector and Jacob was rushed to hospital with his loved ones anxiously waiting to hear his outcome. Later, a sheepish Victoria confessed to her mistake, admitting to using nut oil as she was rushing around at the event. Jacob's protective mum, Leyla Harding, was left furious as the episode ended with her shouting: "You nearly killed my son!"
On Tuesday, Victoria headed to the hospital to visit Jacob, who was recovering from the scary incident. At the end of the episode, the two characters appeared to share a charged moment as Jacob held Victoria's hand to which he said: "I'm just glad you came."
As they looked into each other's eyes, Victoria quickly stood up as Jacob protested: "Don't! Just stay for a bit..." but Victoria was quick to point out: "Jacob, look, you've had a scare haven't you so it's normal that things are a bit heightened!" with Jacob replying: "Right, is that what it is?" to which Victoria rushed out the room.

It comes as Emmerdale favourite Matthew Wolfenden confirmed he's leaving the ITV soap as David Metcalfe after 17 years after it was reported last month he was set to leave. The actor is bowing out of the role after joining the show in 2006 and Matthew, 43, broke down in tears on This Morning as he confirmed the reports and watched back his best bits on the ITV soap.
Teasing his character's exit storyline, Matthew said there could be resolution between David and Victoria. He said: "There is a resolution of sorts... I can't give too much away. Victoria is the reason why he leaves the village... put it that way! He leaves because of Victoria in a way, I can't give too much away!"
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
