TV hosts left speechless as boy shares 'joke' that should 'never have aired'

The hosts of Australia's Today Show were left aghast after a young boy who appeared on the show made an unscripted joke about vegans and vegetarians jumping off a cliff.

Hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo appeared stunned and initially unaware of how to react to the inappropriate gag, which in the end left them both in fits of laughter. So much so, that Karl even fell off his chair. The joke seemed to blindside both production and presenters. The young lad started his joke by saying: "A vegan and a vegetarian are jumping off a cliff to see who will hit the bottom first. Who wins?" Karl responded saying: "I don't know." And Sarah added: "Who wins?"

The young boy proudly responded saying: "Society!" In a bid to mask their shock and highlight the fact that they were taken unaware, the hosts informed viewers: "We weren't expecting that."

At one point on the show, Karl struggled to contain himself as he placed his head in his hands in a show of utter disbelief. And in another section, he was laughing so loudly at the little boy's enthusiasm when telling the joke.

The video has now been seen by millions of people globally after it was posted to the show's official TikTok account. American commentator Benny Johnson dubbed it "the single greatest moment in television history." Meanwhile someone else commented saying: "The joke of the century".

But the clip generated mixed reviews among those who have chosen to stick to a meat free or meat and dairy free diet. Seeing the harmless funny side, one person said: "As a vegetarian I approve". And another wrote: "As a vegetarian, I laughed my a**e off."

But their views were not shared by another viewer who did not see the funny side of things. A third person penned: "Such a great job of raising your kids, NOT, the joke is funny but this is how morals and compassion die." A fourth viewer questioned the joke adding: "Society wins when animals are killed?"

Since it was posted, many have found the clip to be inappropriate for daytime TV.. But this is just one of many TV blunder moments. Back in 2021, when Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford presented This Morning, they were interviewing a guest called Anastasia.

The topic in question was if people were going too far with fillers and implants and as someone who has gone under the knife, the Anastasia was quick to point out that she was happy with her procedure as she used to look like a hamster.

But Eamon misheard her comment and asked her:"So you like to look like a hamster?" And it was at this point that Ruth jumped in to clarify the situation but fans found it hilarious. One person said: "Eamonn!!! You are so awkward 'so you like looking like a hamster?'and we can hear in the back Ruth saying 'no no.'"
