A paranormal expert claims to have heard ghosts swearing in Scottish accents while they were visiting a 931-year-old fortress near Hadrian's Wall.
Tony Ferguson visited Carlisle Castle with his team of ghoul hunters and says he was left spooked by the eerie voices he heard in the English Heritage castle, which was by William II in 1092. The 38-year-old said they had thick Scottish twangs and began swearing as they walked around.
He said: “We caught several unexplained things here. And I must admit, I was blown away by the activity we had in such a small amount of time here.” While in the stone corridors of the castle in the centre of Carlisle, Cumbria, he said he heard a male voice say “Go” twice. Then, while in one of the rooms of the fort, Tony claimed he heard a muffled noise in a deep Scottish accent, before he says he heard a female voice say: “F*** you” at them.
Tony, of Lymington, Hampshire, said: “One male voice responded, I’m unsure what was being said. But sounds like someone with a deep Scottish accent.” He added: “A couple of minutes later a female voice was caught laughing and then she said ‘F*** you’. Again it sounded like someone with a Scottish accent.”

This was in the upper tower. The interesting thing is we were high up in the tower —you could clearly hear it in the room with us. Also, the castle is in a busy town centre, and it would be impossible to hear a cat from below that high up.

“Overall, there were so many things we could not explain, and with some of the voices caught, some were English and some were Scottish, and many lives of Scottish were taken and English with this castle. We are looking to return early next year to set up a few experiments plus set up CCTV to see what we capture.”
