With the first episode of the series underway viewers of Married At First Sight were waiting with bated breath to know who was going to be matched with who.
However, that took somewhat of a back seat after fans noticed that one of the contestants, Luke, 30, had actually been on another reality TV show desperately searching for love. The Sales Executive from Clacton in Essex had been matched with Jay, who also works in sales and the pair tied the knot infront of their friends and family. Luke had confessed on the show that his path to true love had been shattered after his girlfriend at the time blindsided him by dumping him out of the blue.
Luke and Jay were thge first couple of the series to tie the knot (Channel 4)So this may explain why he took to reality shows and experts to help him wade through the time wasters. Luke appeared on Davina McCall's show, The Language Of Love, two years ago. Flocking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: "Got it! Luke was on Davina McCall's The Language of Love!! #MAFSUK."
Anotgher said: "Luke was on that Language of Love dating show last year if anyone else thought he looked familiar #MAFSUK." And a third said: "Got it! Luke was on on Davina McCall's The Language of Love!! #MAFSUK." As a contestant on The Language Of Love, Luke had to relocate from the UK to Spain with both British and Spanish singletons.
But what he didn't realise was that neither contestant spoke the same language and so the programme looked to see if love could blossom despite a language barrier. However, that clearly didn't work out as Luke is now on MAFS and he was one of the first couples to be matched.

Both Jay and Luke have had rocky pasts. Unlike Luke's past, Jay's insecurities stem from a completely different place as she was born with a disability. Jay was born without an arm and while, by her own admission, she is incredibly independent, she told experts that she always felt that her disability stopped potential suitors from finding her attractive.
Luke appeared on another dating show called The Language Of Love hosted by Davina McCall (Mark Beltran)Instead, the bubbly sales manager said that she tends to friends zone men before she is dealt with the blow of rejection. Viewers were left engaged with the couple's pairing. So much so, they took to social media to show how invested they are in both Luke and Jay.
One viewer wrote: "Luke and Jay were all rooting for you don’t let us down pls. #MAFSUK." Another person said: "Jay & Luke. I’ve known you for an hour but I am already emotionally invested in you both and if you don’t last then what is the point in love at all? #MAFSUK." Jay was left unsure as to whether Luke found her attractive until her younger sister stepped in to reassure her, having already had that conversation with Luke. However, fans saw that Jay was still reluctant to believe her match with Luke could lead to something special.
