We all know that sinking feeling - the drain is blocked up and it's time to splash out on expensive additional cleaning products, or even a plumber. But fear not! One cleaning guru has now shared a smart and simple way to solve the problem.

During an appearance on Stacey Solomon's hit show, Sort Your Life Out, Iwan Carrington revealed his hack for dealing with slow draining sinks without the need for a call-out. He said: "Often, with blocked sinks, the first thing you might think is calling out a plumber. But this can actually be a really easy task you can do yourself, quite simply."

So how to deal with blockages? It's really quite simple. Very gently prize off the U-bend of your sink. You can then remove all the gunk from inside before placing the U-bend back in position and tightening up again. Demonstrating the chore, Iwan explained: "This is a combination of hair and soap." He then gave the U-bend a good scrub, recommending using a toothbrush to get into every nook and cranny.

Iwan's revelation is just one of a number of top cleaning hacks for the home. Just recently, a woman shared her cheap trick to keep her shower head sparkling, using an ingredient you'll already have in your cupboard. In a bid to leave her shower gleaming, Amanda, who runs the TikTok account @amanda_cleans, secured a bag of vinegar around her shower head with a rubber band. She then submerged the head in vinegar for an hour.

As she took the bag of vinegar off, giving it a wipe, it looked immediately sparkling - just like it was brand new. Amanda used "regular white vinegar like you would use for cooking". With over 7.9 million views and 276,000 likes, people were amazed by the hack. Hygiene whizz Madame Sweat, meanwhile, recently shared her secret to getting saucepans looking like new without any scrubbing. She claimed your pots will be "cleaner than they have ever been" with her easy trick, which she demonstrated on her TikTok, revealing her secret ingredient.

She said: "Never scrub a pot or pan ever again. When your pots have debris all of them, what you wanna do is fill the pot with water and use dishwasher soap, not regular dish soap." The woman showed a pot full of boiling water with a dishwasher pod in and explained: "Boil it on the stove until the water comes to a boil, leave it for another five minutes, pour it out. Voila, all that difficult debris just comes right off." Just make sure you keep the lid on top of the pot.

Since dishwasher tablets are made for harder stains, it's no wonder they make your pans sparkling. And the video has racked up over 5 million views from other cleaning fans. One person commented: "Nice! This is much faster. I just leave water in the pot then clean next morning with one swipe," as another shared: "Omg. I was soaking and scrubbing mine for five days. Where were you??!"
