Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill blasted the New England Patriots fans after victory on Sunday Night Football.
The 29-year-old helped the Dolphins to a 24-17 victory at Gillette Stadium during Week 2 of the new NFL season. After the tense game, the wide receiver said Patriots fans were jeering him while using language he did not wish to repeat.
That seemed to make the victory all the sweeter for the 2020 Super Bowl champion, who commented on the hostile atmosphere in New England. “It felt tremendous,” Hill said. “Those fans are probably some of the worst fans in the NFL, and I’m gonna stand on that. They are real nasty and some of the things they were saying, I wouldn’t say in church.
"So it felt great to wave goodbye to the fans and I’ll do it again, bye.” There is some history between Hill and the Patriots fans which may provide some context to his comments.
In 2018, while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill scored a 70-yard touchdown before a man threw a beer at him. The spectator was later charged with disorderly conduct and was banned from future events at the stadium.

Hill registered just 40 yards on five catches Sunday night but scored a vital touchdown late in the first half to keep the momentum firmly with the Dolphins. According to Next Gen Stats, The Patriots played five-plus defensive backs on 32 of 61 snaps as they attempted to keep Hill and fellow wide receiver Jaylen Waddle quiet.
Despite his relatively subdued performance, Hill was delighted to win at a stadium that was once one of the toughest places for teams to secure a win. "It feels good, man. It always feels good to beat probably one of the greatest coaches of all time," Hill said. "To come in here in a tough environment, to win a game like this on a Sunday night, it feels good -- especially the way this team played, the way this team battled through adversity.
“It just shows that if you put in the work mentally, physically, and come into this game prepared, you'll be ready for situations like that." The Dolphins have won their first two games of the season and will aim for a third against the Denver Broncos on Saturday. The Patriots were looking to complete a remarkable comeback after trailing 17-3 during the third quarter.
A sensational play on special teams to block a Jason Sanders field goal helped galvanise the team and lift their level of play. But as they did against the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday, the Patriots just fell short of a comeback and have lost their first two games of the season for the first time since 2001.
The Patriots registered three turnovers in the first quarter and have trailed by 10 or more points in their opening two games this season. This a first for Bill Belichick as Patriots coach and when asked why his team is starting games slowly, he simply said: “Can't turn the ball over."
Quarterback Mac Jones added: “Just stay positive and try to work together and find solutions to issues or problems. That's all you can do -- arrive early, stay later and grind with each other." The Patriots will face the New York Jets on Sunday and hope to record their first victory of the season.
