There's nothing worse than settling in for a lovely warm shower, basking in the steamy water, only to notice your shower head is covered in limescale. If you live in an area with hard water, perhaps you're used to the build up on your shower head, but that doesn't mean you should just accept it.

One cleaning enthusiast has taken to TikTok to share her cheap trick to keep her shower head sparkling, using an ingredient you'll already have in your home. In a bid to leave her shower gleaming, Amanda, who runs the TikTok account @amanda_cleans, secured a bag of vinegar around her shower head with a rubber band. She then submerged the head in vinegar for an hour.

As she took the bag of vinegar off, giving it a wipe, it looked immediately sparkling - just like it was brand new. Amanda used "regular white vinegar like you would use for cooking". With over 7.9 million views and 276,000 likes, people were amazed by the hack - but they also had questions.

"Does the shower head not unscrew? Could just place it in a cup of vinegar," one person asked. Amanda replied that "this is way easier than taking the shower head off & on. It took 5 seconds to put up." "Why not put the vinegar on the sponge first?" another asked. "It has to soak for an hour. That's why," was the woman's response.

One person suggested that next time, Amanda add baking soda as "it's so satisfying." Natural ingredients like baking soda, white vinegar and lemon make for great substitutes to bleach and harsh chemicals - and they're incredibly cheap. You could buy all three ingredients, for less than £1.50, as baking soda costs 65p, white vinegar 29p and a bag of lemons is 55p.

Even better - they have multiple uses in your house. As well as working well in your pantry for recipes, they'll keep all facets of your home clean. You could also use white vinegar to clean your washing machine and it can even whiten your clothes according to Mrs Hinch. If you find you struggle to get stains out of clothing, white vinegar can help you keep your clothes stainless. One TikTok cleaning creator also showed that using chopped lemons and water could help clean your oven. Another savvy mum uses lemons and baking soda to clean her stovetop.
