Six flood warnings are in force as the UK faces heavy downpours as a result of Hurricane Lee.

A further 20 flood alerts - less severe warnings - are in place across England, Environment Agency says. The majority of the warnings, where "flooding is expected", are in the Midlands. It comes as Met Office has today issued a weather warning for rain for a 36-hour period this week, downpours it says could cause flooding.

Southwest England has, though, already seen flooding following torrential downpours yesterday, thought to have been a consequence of Hurricane Lee which has barrelled across New England in the US and eastern Canada. It is feared it will move across the UK this week, further exposing the UK to flooding. No flood warnings or alerts are in force across Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland currently.
