A three-legged poodle was transformed into a "little princess" thanks to an incredible operation and remarkable recovery.
Llammy the one-year-old pooch had arrived looking "more like a lamb" with rescuers at an animal charity bringing the dog into their care. Blue Cross rehoming centre in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, nursed the dog back to health through a series of operations including a tragic amputation for the animal. A necessary front leg amputation was followed by a long journey to recovery. Llammy was cared for by the team at the rehabilitation centre before they began finding her a new home, where she is now receiving princess-like treatment.

Time in a home with our animal welfare assistant Amy who fostered her saw her quickly regain her confidence and she took it all in her stride.
"She was such a loving girl and loved nothing more than snuggling close to Amy getting all the TLC she needed to recover. She didn’t let having three legs stop her and it was clear that she was a cheeky girl wanting to enjoy her life, bounding around playing with her toys." The once scraggy-looking dog has found a loving new home, with the 24-hour care Llammy was under continuing until Blue Cross workers were sure she was ready to head to her "forever home".

She is now unrecognisable (Courtesy of Blue Cross / SWNS)Caroline added: "Fostering is vital for some of our pets as sometimes our rehoming centre isn’t the right space for the pet – if they need 24-hour care and attention or they’ve come in from a home environment then it’s a huge change. Llammy thrived in Amy’s care and she was soon ready to head to her new forever home and we found her a fantastic owner in Megan who we have supported throughout the rehoming process."

Llammy's new owners could not be happier with their "little princess", who moved into the family home in July. Megan, 24, said: “I decided to name her Llammy because she looked just like a lamb when she arrived in our care. My parents weren’t convinced, however she is now Granny and Grandad’s little princess who can do no wrong. Now she has put on weight and her hair has grown back she looks like a totally different dog. She certainly doesn’t let the fact she has three legs get in the way. Between walks, playing and her 'snack time salsa', she loves life and it’s great to have her in in our life. We couldn’t ask for a better companion."
